House is the basic and primary need of any individual for the survival. It gives them the feeling of security that they have a roof under which they can relax and enjoy life with their dear ones. Dream of owned house is every human being’s aspiration no matter whoever the person is or how wealthy they are. Looking forward to this thought, Prime Minister has launched Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana nationwide in June 2015, ensuring that every citizen of India can get a house within individual’s financial capability.

The primary objective of this scheme is to construct around 2 crore houses across the nation for the Indian citizen by the end of 2022. This scheme could prove beneficial for the urban areas as the majority of the poor is more than the wealthy ones. It is advised by the Venkaiah Nadu who also holds the Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation portfolio that houses are to be registered under the name of women alone or jointly with a man.
Union Urban Development Minister, M Venkaiah Naidu tweeted – “Since construction of two crore houses for urban poor is being envisaged to address housing shortage, as many poor urban women stand to benefit under this scheme”.
Verdict: This housing is a great step uplifted by the government that shall help those individual get a house under their financial capabilities. Registration on the names of women will provide them the security as majority of the women stand under this scheme. Looking forward for the execution of the allotment of the houses to the urban population, as smiling faces gives the feeling of satisfaction.
