Indian Railways plays a vital role in the lives of the Indians, as it is used as common mode of transport across the nation. Indian Railways have been working hard continuously to provide comfort and modern facilities to its customers. In the past few years, there are many positive changes that can be observed. Talking about the facilities, connectivity and time taken to complete the journey is the major aspects on which commuting via trains depend. Indian Railways is continuously upgrading its services ranging from catering, medical facilities, bio-toilets, semi-high speed trains and more. Coming to the semi-high speed trains recently, launched its fastest service Gatimaan Express that runs at 160 kmph on the Delhi-Agra route. Indian Railways did not stop there, Talgo another achievement that shall mark its presence in the railway network.

Talgo is imported from Spain and manufactured by Madrid-based Talgo. Talgo trains are known for been light-weight and some design features that comprises of articulated bogies and independent rotating wheels. The nine-coach Talgo train arrived at Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Navi Mumbai on April 21 2016. It was straight away shipped from Barcelona and later was brought to the Izzatnagar, rail workshop located near Bareilly.
On Sunday at 8:50 am a nine-coach semi-high-speed train Talgo with 4500 horse power engine had undergone its first trial run between Bareily and Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh. This 90 km trial run will last for two week. On the first day, the train had total of 9 coaches where it had: 2 executive class coaches, 4 chair car coaches, 1 cafeteria, 1 power car and 1 tail-end coach with equipment. Currently, the trial run was planned with empty coaches but later on this shall be conducted with sandbags on the passenger seats. The second trial run will be done between Mathura and Palwal route where the speed of the train shall be increased up to 200 kmph, and this set of trial shall last for 40 days. The last and the third trial will be executed on the Delhi-Mumbai route with its maximum speed of 200 kmph and this shall last for 2 weeks at a stretch.
The great thing is yet to come, after the successful execution of Talgo trials. Then, ‘super luxury’ Talgo train service shall run between Delhi and Mumbai route in the coming months, as a result it will reduce the travelling time from 18 hours to less than 12 hours, as time is precious.
Verdict: New technology is incorporated by the Indian Railways in their services for their passengers. More benefits can be achieved if the highly developed network combines with great technology and upgraded services. It shall provide a comfortable journey in minimum time that is one achievement in itself.
