Toyota is one of the renowned car makers who is known for launching its luxury car Innova that was launched in 2005, the company has sold an over 6 lakh Innova cars in the country. Innova has been the market since the beginning and in the current toughest situation where all the competitors are having their cars in MPV segments, the best remains with Innova where it enjoys the 35% market shares. The sales of the company faced a bad time when Delhi NCR banned the registration of diesel cars with 2000 cc or above. The Innova is soon to be replaced by the Innova Crysta, where the top-end Innova Crysta model (2.8-liter, 8-seater with AMT) comes for Rs 20.77 lakh whereas the low-end model is priced at Rs 13.83 lakh.
At the launch of Innova Crysta, VP of Toyota Kirloskar Motor Sailesh Shetty told PTI:
“Delhi-NCR is the biggest market among other regions of the country. Since sales of Innova and Fortuner have stopped there, there will be considerable impact in overall sales.”
He further added, “We are meeting all the emission norms as per government regulations… Diesel is a good fuel and we hope that the ban will be lifted someday. However, we are working on the petrol engine of Innova, the highest selling MPV in the country”.
The sales of the diesel MPVs have hit the market and had observed a declining graph in the Delhi NCR regions following the ban on cars which was made due to environmental issues. Since the ban that was applicable from December 2015, Toyota has not seen any Innova or Fortuner selling out in the Delhi NCR premises.
However, soon after the launch of Innova Crysta, the response received from the customers was great. Not only that, the bookings received so far could face a delay due to high demand of the top-end model. Innova car lovers residing in Delhi NCR would definitely want to buy the new launch Innova Crysta to experience the comfort of this MVP segment. Therefore, the launch of petrol version would provide them the icing on the cake, where the cake tastes to be delicious.
Verdict: Innova has been loved by most of the Indians. Now, as there is hope to see the Innova Crysta in its petrol version, it would be interesting to see the sales increase in the Delhi NCR region too.
